My target 50 kms

I’m taking on the Groundwork Challenge!

1 in 5 Australian mammals are on the endangered species list.

That’s why from 16 November until 16 December, I’m digging deep for the land I love.

I’ve committed to running/walking/rolling every day to protect our native species and their precious habitats.

Please support me and help protect the land we all call home by making a tax deductible donation to Bush Heritage Australia.

Together, we can help restore the bush and protect our native species.

With 4 days to go until the Challenge is over it's time to dig in deep with that sponsorship which will make a huge difference to my tally and the total donations received for this wonderful cause.

So now is the time now matter how large or how small help me reach my second target of $1, 000, I already have $566.

Thanks

My Updates

Last Post

Wednesday 16th Dec
Today is the last day of the Groundwork Challenge run by Bush Heritage Australia.
This week has seen some challenges and I haven't posted much lately.
I did enjoy the challenge of walking and raising funds because I do care about our wildlife and their habitats.
This is so small and the problems are so large but if we all play a role we can do something to mitigate the effects of humans on the environment
Enjoy the Christmas period, look after your wellbeing and keep walking, moving, meditating, exploring, caring, sharing and growing as you move around this wonderful creation.
Cheers

Life in the Slow Lane

Thursday 3rd Dec
Day 17 of the 30 day challenge and I have steadily moved towards my goal
Achieved first goal of $500 or more
Almost achieved second goal of 50 kms or more
slight hiccup using an American fitness app which uses miles instead of kilometres
1 mile equals 1.69 kms
Most important thing is that I am outside in nature moving and connecting with the environment albeit in a small way
Yesterday I saw a Koala approaching the bike path then climbing a tall gum tree

The Joys of Using an American Fitness App

Monday 30th Nov
To my surprise I noticed my fitness app uses miles not kilometres which made sense as I have often wondered why it felt like I was walking greater distances than the app showed.
When one is undertaking a challenge to walk from 50-100 kms within one month this could make a huge difference.
I have now converted miles into kilometres and have come up with a new figure.
The tally is now at 47.95 kilometres and we are only half way.
PS all going well I have correctly updated the figures any changes and I will edit the post later
Pic Oaklands Estate Wetlands park this is why we need to protect our wildlife and their habitats this tree although standing along without leaves or branches still offers local wildlife the chance to find shelter and safety within the park area

renewed vision awesome support

Monday 30th Nov
Started out for a walk this morning and the doggie pals found a small puddle of water and went for a soak
Including pics of a recent visit to Botannical Gardens in Adelaide
See why I am committed to support our wildlife and their habitats
Our planet needs our commitment to help it stay healthy into the future
We need to turn things around for the environment and our wildlife

There's more to do on my part I have 19 days to complete the challenge and well on the way to going above and beyond

Best day to date

Thursday 26th Nov
Today Adelaide is preparing for more high temps tomorrow so have made good use of this week
I've done this be getting off to an early start each morning and taking the doggies for a walk along the linear park or trekking the streets nearby.
Each day my confidence is rising that I will indeed meet my goals
Today is my best day to date and have already clocked up more than 5kms and the day is not yet ended.

Emerging and Refocusing on the goal

Monday 23rd Nov
With the challenge just commencing on the 16/11 South Australia went into unexpected lockdown which meant NO Walking allowed for 4 days. I wondered "how will this impact my ability to make a start on the challenge"
A new announcement that the lockdown restrictions would ease from midnight on Saturday 21/11. This was good news.
A new challenge; high temperatures of up to 35 degrees were experienced from Thursday until Sunday. We were allowed to start walking again from Sunday.
I found a new strategy to continue with my walking challenge.
I walked around the property (within the parameter of the fence and garage) and was able to measure the distance gained every day. I was surprised to knock up 3.1 kms in one day. This made me hopeful that I could make a decent go of this challenge.
Then today I clocked up a whopping 4.5 kms by going for an early morning walk, and extra walking around the property doing normal chores and activities.
The temperature had dropped to a top of 23 degrees so this helped give me energy which had dropped during the warmer days.
Now the tally is 20.5 kms in just 1 week.
My goal is 50-100 kms
I have 3 people offering to sponsor me.
Hope all the other participants are enjoying the challenge and have overcome any obstacles.
Let's do this together.
