I’m taking on the Groundwork Challenge!

1 in 5 Australian mammals are on the endangered species list.

That’s why from 16 November until 16 December, I’m digging deep for the land I love.

I’ve committed to running/walking/rolling every day to protect our native species and their precious habitats.

Please support me and help protect the land we all call home by making a tax deductible donation to Bush Heritage Australia.

Together, we can help restore the bush and protect our native species.

Heathcote Pipeline

Sunday 13th Dec
Today I actually ventured away from the immediate vicinity, to Heathcote National Park, where we (accidentally) followed the Forum Drive fire trail for a few km before we backtracked to Heathcote pipeline, stopping a few rock pools along the way.

Another stunning day in Cronulla

Gunnamatta Bay

Tuesday 8th Dec
Today’s walk was supposed to be around Gunnamatta Bay and Hungry Head, then back to Bass & Flinders Pt and the usual Esplanade walk. Tides got the better of me though and I ended up backtracking & cutting back through Shelley Beach.
For another day :)

Cronulla again

Cronulla beaches

Sunday 29th Nov
In today’s heat, the chosen walk was actually just a slow wade along the shoreline. Water temperature is around 20degrees. Perfect!

Crowd building up at Oak Park

Saturday 28th Nov

Lovely spot for a wedding, overlooking the water

Saturday 28th Nov

Seagulls resting on the water

Saturday 28th Nov
Rather flat today at South Cronulla. The gulls seemed very content just floating about

Cronulla Esplanade on a rather hot morning

Saturday 28th Nov
Was a very warm walk to Bass& Flinders Point this morning. Very happy to have a quick ocean dip after that!

Cronulla’s sand dune again

Towra Point Nature Reserve

Friday 27th Nov
RAMSAR-listed Quibray Bay

Towra Point & Quibray Bay, via Sandhills

Friday 27th Nov
Towra Point nature reserve is a RAMSAR classified area for migratory birds from around the world. All that’s here for people on foot is a lookout, but it is a special place on Botany Bay,  in the midst of Sydney.

Kamay National Park, Kurnell

Friday 27th Nov
Spectacular cliffs and post-bushfire regrowth are a feature here, and it is great to hear so many frogs. This walk was to Cape Bailey lighthouse, which still acts as an essential navigational aid to help ships sail closer to shore and avoid strong southerly currents.

The regular Cronulla esplanade walk

Friday 27th Nov
A couple of photos on a flat, partly cloudy day. As well as the stunning ocean and rock platform views, on the land too, even in this built up area, there is plenty of natural beauty.

Our heritage sanddune

Thursday 19th Nov
Today I squeezed in a little of one of my favourite walks. It always reminds me of Fraser Island 💕
It was in the afternoon after Physiotherapy,  so wind was well and truly up! This kite surfer was up about 2-3 metres in the air at one stage (naturally I didn’t catch that on camera😆)

Slow start

Wednesday 18th Nov
A bit of gardening, cleaning, shopping and organising this week for my FIL Keith’s 90th birthday party.
While Fitbit tells me I have walked 9.5 to 13 km each of the first 3 days, much of this has been in the garden, in the house, or in the supermarket; not enjoying nature.
Made up for it a little by picking up lots of the plastic washed up by Tuesday’s high tide.
Dear sponsors, don’t give up on me yet. Next week will be very different :)
