I’m taking on the Groundwork Challenge!

1 in 5 Australian mammals are on the endangered species list.

That’s why from 16 November until 16 December, I’m digging deep for the land I love.

I’ve committed to running/walking/rolling every day to protect our native species and their precious habitats.

Please support me and help protect the land we all call home by making a tax deductible donation to Bush Heritage Australia.

Together, we can help restore the bush and protect our native species.

Dancing for KM

Saturday 28th Nov
I discovered last night that it was quite easy to notch up 2.5km extra dancing to some great music with friends.  Just as well, because the dog missed out on her evening walk because it was too hot for her to go out (she is very close to the ground) beforehand.  Lesson from this story - keep your app on when you dance around, vacuum, dust, washing ..... it all adds up!!!

Double the benefit

Friday 27th Nov
I just heard that on Friday 27 November, for every dollar donated this will be matched, which will increase the amount I and the rest of the wildflowers team can raise for Bush Heritage Australia. How great is that!

I was thinking about this as I did some laps at the Alice Springs town pool.  It is glorious to be in the water, enjoying the freshness of the early morning.

Quarantine steps/km

Monday 23rd Nov
Hi for the first few days of this challenge I was in quarantine, firstly in the Mercure (now called the Todd Facility) and then at home.  It was easier to do my kms at the hotel - 11 steps from door to window - as there were few other distractions.  The challenge was how to move - quickly, slowly, squats, figures of 8, skips, hops, various dance moves .... after getting back home, I forgot to move with my phone - emptying the car, putting things back in cupboards, doing the laundry and then tackling the garden.  Today after getting a negative COVID test result I am back on track with a lovely walk in the early morning , with partner, dog and big smiles all around.  Freedom is a blessed and special thing.  6.5km so far today!
