I'm getting a move on!
In not-news to anyone, the pandemic made a massive dent in the work I thought I'd be doing this year, i.e. looking after animals. :-)
Which is why I feel excited/nauseated* about taking up the Groundwork Challenge to raise funds for Bush Heritage.
*Excited about contributing in some way still to conservation. Nauseated at the thought that this resembles exercise, which is not my preferred activity (unless I'm wearing work gloves).
Bush Heritage is an organisation that secures some of the remaining habitats for native threatened species, a few of which are close to my heart. It also employs Indigenous staff and works directly with Indigenous community partners, including in conducting right-way science. This work is worth supporting.
Which is why I am committing to walking 2hrs every day for 30 days from November 16th to December 16th. [EDIT: So it turns out the universal target is 100km by the end of the challenge! hahahh / phew]
Please back me up! Here's how to do it:
1. Donate.
2. Post my fundraising page on your socials.
3. For fun, look up an animal you don't know much about that Bush Heritage helps protect. There are profiles on their website. (I'm sorry I used to be a teacher and I can't help myself).
4. Be patient while I hassle everyone about this for the next couple months.
